We're such a creative lot! No, really. It always amazes me what
wonderful stuff people bring along to SSK meetings. Hard to pick a
favourtie this meeting. Lyndell's pink yarns, perhaps, although it's
hard to go beyond the purple cow.
Cute frock by Jussi, front... | ...and back | And Jussi shows us how to use up left-over sock yarn, front... | ...and back | Another little cutie from Jussi | Monica's knitting a stocking cap as a prize in her choir raffle (that's Sydney Unversity Music Society) | Katie's twice-knitted Jo Sharp jumper |
A stunning piece of work - another shetland shawl knitted by Kerry's partner, Clive | No, it's not the dance of the seven veils... Kerry showing off Clive's creation | Hyacinth is making some fiddly little udders... |
for the purple cow of course! |
Kerry's interesting hat - not shown to best advantage here | Adele is making great progress with Cromarty, another twice-knitted garment | Alison, Kerry, Adele, Sandra and M-H | Lyndell's knitting pink for her daughter - and a sock | Pamela, Lyndell, Katie, and Jussi | Pamela's knitting with silk - such colours! | And Lyndell's pink theme continues - she's been shopping on the internet! | And, finally, M-H's latest Cotton Top

Another medium size meeting - Katie, Julie, Jussi, Jenny (me), Kerry, Mary-Helen, Sandra, and Lyndell. it seems that nearly all the knitting projects to be seen were either lace shawls/scarves or socks! Here is Mary-Helen holding up the shawl knitted by Kerry's partner Clive. Very fine and very magnificent! Mary-Helen's Ethereal Fichu lace - my camera has washed out the colour, it's more intense than this. Kerry with his Faina's Scarf. Katie was tatting rather than knitting. Lyndell's
recently completed sock, and some of the natural (undyed) wool she had
from England. And I'm very sorry Lyndell - I somehow failed to
get a photo of you! Sandra with the Lily of the Valley stole. Jussi. (Sorry Jussi, I can't remember what you were knitting!) Me and my Flower Basket Shawl. Julie with Clapotis. It
was lovely to catch up with those of you I hadn't seen in a while, and
meet those SSK folk I hadn't met before - I had a great afternoon, even
though I was affected by the heat towards the end (and was sick as a
dog on Saturday evening). Thanks to Mary-Helen, Sandra and Jussi
for helping me get out of my parking spot (I should have photographed
the illegally parked Grand Cherokee that parked me in!). I've used Flickr to host the photos, and have given them the tag "ssknewtown" so they are all viewable at http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/ssknewtown/
- there are a few extras there that I haven't included in the post
here. As we have little disk space on Blogdrive, it would be a
good idea to use Flickr to host the pictures (you can get a free
account), and if we all stick to the tag "ssknewtown", they're
automatically pooled at the link given, regardless of who uploaded them.

It seems that Barmuda won't be open on 7 Jan, so we'll have to postpone our first 2006 meeting until 21 Jan.
See you then!

Despite the heat, I wanted to go to SSK. I hadn’t been since
June, and might not get back to Sydney on an SSK weekend again until
next June (unless my sister has her baby on a date convenient to my
returning to Sydney for 21 January!). So I arrived right on
2.30pm, but found Barmuda all closed up and this notice on the door.
I sat down nearby, took out my knitting and did about 7-8 rows on my
Denim Pinafore project. No one showed up, and I didn’t fancy my
luck trying to find another cafe open nearby anyhow. At 2.50pm I
gave up and left. If you arrived after I’d gone, I’m sorry.
And an alternative venue is needed if SSK is to meet on 7 January. Barmuda won’t reopen until the 9th.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone!

A medium-sized meeting: Sally, Emma, Katie, Kate,
me, Jussi...
Mon and
Emma arrived late. And Alison emailed today - she's back in Sydney after her travel, visiting World Famous Knitbloggers. We should see her next time, complete with her newly enhanced stash.
Here are the pics:
Here we all are. Why am I reading while everyone else is having fun?
Whose scarf is this? Own up and tell us what yarn and pattern it is.
Adele with Cromarty, and Emma with the everlasting peacock shawl.
Jussi, with sock, and ??? What is her name? with her hat.
Katie, reading too.

Here's the first post of the Sydney Sity Klickers face-to-face knitting group. I'll get the site looking a bit more interesting in time, but for the moment - here we are!
So put the photos and meeting reports up here, folks.
Can't get the comments to work, but...
